Community & opportunity
Finding community through culture and service
Learn about an organization through its own mission, local work, and public participation routes.
An organization is more than an event flyer
The NPHC’s public account connects its coordinating work with scholarship, leadership, service, and community engagement. When learning about any community organization, look beyond a single performance or campaign. Compare its stated purpose with its current activities and the information it provides about who can take part.
Ask before representing or promoting a group
A public mention is not a partnership. Obtain permission before using marks, publishing an endorsement, or claiming that an organization supports a program. For local participation, use the organization’s own public routes and ask what involvement actually requires. Do not send personal student information to an unverified contact.
- Use a current first-party website or official local council listing.
- Distinguish attending a public event, volunteering, membership, and formal partnership.
- Confirm age rules, supervision, costs, and access needs before participation.
- Describe what is documented rather than inferring approval from a shared interest.
